Cotoneaster horizontalis is a deciduous shrub with a trailing habit, that is happiest in full sun. Pink flowers appear in spring, and foliage transitions from green to orange-red in autumn. If you’re planning a wildlife garden, this is one to include! Birds and pollinators are fans of its flowers, and, as hedging, it provides a protective habitat.

Cotoneaster are shrubs or trees, with groups of petite pink or white flowers, and later, berries. Ideal for flower beds and borders.
On arrival, unpack your new garden additions, and, if needed, give a light watering. Your plants are containerised and established, so you can get planting, as long as the ground is not waterlogged or frozen (in these situations, keep your plants in a sheltered position while you wait). For the first year, keep an eye on moisture availability, while roots settle into their new home.
For shrubs, dig a hole, allowing 2 inches either side of the pot width. Try and ensure you plant your new arrival at the same level in the ground as it had been sitting at in its pot. We recommend using a small sprinkle of rootgrow to the base of the planting hole – this will stimulate optimum root development.
We’ve been growing plants in the heart of the Shropshire countryside for nearly 70 years. As passionate horticulturalists and expert growers, we care about plant health and the environmental impact of what we grow and sell.
