Nursery Operative

Supply of plants to our garden centre customers is greatest in the spring and summer. Reliable, conscientious, hardworking staff are crucial to our ability in fulfilling this demand.

Key Responsibilities: 

• To assist in the preparation, presentation and packing of plants for despatch
• To complete tasks to a specified standard in a specified time.
• To be involved in husbandry work on the growing crop.
• Overtime, weekend or holiday duties as required.
• Health and Safety duties as documented in the company Health and Safety Policy.
• Other general nursery work as required.

Core Skills: 

• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• Able to support other team members to achieve a common goal
• Able to work closely with others for extended periods of time
• Nimble fingered, with a good eye for detail, able to work accurately under pressure in a busy environment
• Able to work without direct supervision
• Self-motivated
• Past experience not essential, but must be willing to achieve commercially acceptable rates after initial training and familiarisation

Sales Manager

The Sales Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing and managing the sales activities to achieve sales & margin objectives. They will also manage selected key accounts. The successful candidate will set the vision for the team and continually coach the team to achieve the vision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a strategic sales plan that, when implemented, will meet the company’s sales and profit targets and is aligned with the company vision.
• Set sales and margin targets and KPIs for the sales team.
• Regularly monitor sales executives’ performance.
• Coach, train and support sales executives so that they can achieve their individual KPIs.
• Develop a cohesive, efficient and effective sales team.
• Select and recruit new sales executives as the need arises.
• Provide a monthly sales report for the board of directors.
• Profitably manage selected key accounts.
• Promote the company’s presence throughout the UK.
• Ensure continued growth in line with the company vision.
• Training and succession planning, feeding this information to HR.
• Attend trade meetings, conventions and network events and gather market and competitor information.
• Analyse data to identify sales opportunities and improvements.
• Investigate and report on lost sales and customer accounts.
• Formulate sales and procedural policies.
• Develop and Control expenses budget.
• Identify appropriate product lines for production.
• Oversee general despatch and logistic issues.
