Sales Representative

We pride ourselves on producing an extensive British-grown range of Alpines, Ferns, Grasses, Heathers and Herbaceous plants.

As a result of continued growth, we are looking to strengthen our team and currently have a vacancy for an experienced Sales Representative. This position is predominantly linked to our Shropshire nursery, but will also require the applicant to travel, visiting customers and prospects.  We will accept candidates who live and work remotely from the Nursery and especially those based in Central Southern and South East UK.

The right candidate will need to have good plant knowledge and an understanding of the garden centre market. Good communication, planning, administration and IT skills are also essential, as is the ability to be a self-starter.

This role will involve dealing with customers in person, over the phone and via e-mail. Tasks will include: pricing enquiries, prospecting for new business, securing orders and developing existing business in an agreed geographical area.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Adopting and growing a base of existing amenity accounts.
  • Pricing incoming enquiries from customers
  • Processing orders accordingly and
  • Following up outstanding quotations and negotiating orders
  • Assisting with generating new business and ensuring smooth adoption
  • Working to and recording targets as required
  • Meeting with clients in the UK and abroad if required
  • Handling queries and complaints
  • Gathering and sharing product and market information

Finance Assistant

Responsible to: Head of Finance.

Job Type: Full Time

Contact with: UK Vendors, and all internal company departments.

Role Overview: A hands-on Accounts Administrator who will be heavily involved in the day to day activities of a growing company’s Purchase Ledger and Management Accounts functions, in a busy Finance Office. This is a full time development role with real long term opportunity for career progression, would ideally suit an AAT Part Qualified junior candidate with general accounting experience.

Main Duties & responsibilities:

· Data Entry of purchase invoices for UK Vendors

· Three way matching of invoices, PO, and delivery notes

· Filing / scanning / photocopying

· Creating new Vendor files and due diligence

· Vendor Account reconciliations

· Vendor Query Resolution

· Petty Cash Reconciliation

· Preparation of month end journals

· Maintenance of fixed asset register

· Other administrative tasks to support the finance function

Skills required:

· Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and allocate time effectively.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel

· Experience in Sage 50 and/or Microsoft Navision / Dynamics / Business Central

Job Description:

Boningale Nurseries is one of the leading suppliers to the British landscaping industry. From our 40-acre container site in Shropshire, we produce and contract-grow a huge variety of hardy nursery stock.

This role will suit an organised individual with strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. You will perform a supporting administrative role to members of the sales team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely inputting and processing of sales orders and quotations
  • Hold regular one-to-one meetings with the administration team members
  • Manage administration team members, achieving good results through planning, good communication, monitoring and following company procedures
  • Build relationships with clients who visit the site
  • Undertake any other duties deemed appropriate to the position, as decided by the Sales Manager

Nursery Operative

Job Description

Worfield Plants is a Shropshire-based plant nursery, specialising in the production of Alpines, Ferns, Grasses, Heathers and Herbaceous plants.

The Nursery Operative will carry out production and husbandry activities on crops, from propagation to finals. As part of the production team, they will work to gain high standards and top-quality crops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be an integral part of the team, working on the potting machine and ensuring continuous supply of raw materials
  • Potting by hand, and machine, to commercial rates and standards
  • Standing down of potted plants when required
  • Plant propagation – taking cuttings, preparing and sticking
  • Weeding, watering, bed clearing and maintenance work
  • Lifting, caning or despatching plants and any duties associated with these tasks as required
  • To carry out other tasks on the nursery when required
  • Health and Safety duties as documented in the company Health and Safety Policy

  • Past experience is not necessary, but a positive attitude to work and learning is essential

Propagation Apprenticeship NVQ Level 3 Block Release

Job Description

Boningale Nurseries is one of the leading suppliers to the British landscaping industry. From our 40-acre container site in Shropshire, we produce and contract-grow a huge variety of trees and shrubs.

The successful candidate will gain experience across all departments, but the emphasis will be on propagation and husbandry of the growing crop. They will develop a range of plant skills on site, underpinned with knowledge gained from attending the Crop Technician block release at Pershore College, Worcestershire.

Core Skills and Attributes

  • Past experience is not essential, although this apprenticeship will suit experienced candidates who want to develop a deeper understanding of horticulture.
  • We are looking for individuals with a strong desire to learn and contribute to their own professional development.
  • A positive attitude to work is essential.
  • Applicants must have a co-operative and flexible disposition, and display excellent team working. They should be self-motivated and willing to take responsibility and be accountable for their own actions.
  • They must be a clear and effective communicator, able to give/receive information and instruction accurately and in a timely and positive manner.
  • Individuals must be adaptable to changing environmental conditions, situations and working environments.
  • Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment.

Intended Outcomes

  • Safe Use of Pesticides – Foundation unit, plus either Boom Sprayer or Hand held application units.
  • On completion of this apprenticeship, the qualified Crop Technician would be expected to play a key role in the running of the Propagation Department.

Pershore College

  • Apprentices will attend Pershore College over two years on a block release basis, 5 blocks a year. Here they will study alongside individuals from other nurseries from within the West Midlands.
  • The College provides accommodation for block release students, for which Boningale will cover the costs. Apprentices will be responsible for covering the costs of travel and food.

On Site Work Experience – Propagation to Sales

  • Apprentices will gain a broad understanding and experience of the whole nursery process before starting to develop their knowledge of plant propagation.
  • Key skills will be highlighted in each area and will provide the backbone of the training.
  • On the job coaching will help individuals develop within the team and to achieve commercial standards in all areas, whilst working safely and efficiently.

Hours and Pay

  • 39 hours a week – 8am start, finish time is site specific, depending on lunch breaks.
  • Pay will be based on the national minimum wage for the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Overtime as required will be paid at 1.5 x normal pay.
  • Wages are paid monthly, directly into staff bank accounts.
  • Holiday entitlement is 23 days per year, plus 8 bank holidays.

The Propagator will carry out the propagation of hardy nursery stock by cuttings, splits or seed in a commercial environment. They will be a part of the production team, working to gain high standards and top-quality crops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To prepare propagated material of acceptable quality as efficiently as possible to agreed quantities.
  • To supervise other operatives within the propagation process.
  • To be involved in the management of the mist unit and propagation areas in respect of husbandry requirements, pest, disease & weed control and general housekeeping, working with the Propagation supervisor.
  • To carry out other tasks on the nursery when required.
  • Health and Safety duties as documented in the company Health and Safety Policy.
  • To work with the Production manager and Propagation supervisor.
  • To work effectively as part of a team, actively supporting and motivating other team members.
  • To participate in appropriate training, and be committed to ongoing personal & professional development.

Core Skills & Attributes:

  • The role would best suit an applicant with some past experience in hardy nursery stock propagation or horticulture, with a willingness to learn about commercial propagation.
  • To be able to motivate a team.
  • Enthusiastic, practical and driven to succeed.
  • IT skills would be an advantage.
